Perhaps the most successful distraction of all was this one: while Texas voters decried abortion rights, public school indoctrination, liberal elites, LGBTQ people, and whether women should work outside the home or lead a nation, the Texas government grew its autocratic power. Texans can dance the two-step, throw a football, wrestle a steer, shrink their blue jeans, build a mini-mansion, vacation in Galveston, ban books about LGBTQ characters in their school libraries, support MAGA, or boycott DEI programs all day and every which way but, they cannot undo without a revolution the Republican’s corrupt authoritarian power in Austin.
Calling today's Republican leader, MAGA member, loyal GOP voter, or Far-Right internet influencer a Conservative is deceptive, unreasonable, and prejudicial.
Americans must hear the Democrats and Independents speak honestly to them -- Donald J Trump will not; Americans must hear Democrats and Independents speak with boldness, authority, integrity, and wisdom – Donald J Trump will not. Americans must hear the Democrats and Independents defend the Constitution and the Rule of Law, defend the voices and civil rights of all people who reside in the U.S.A. – Donald J Trump will not.
Jesus entered the Temple to show that the Pharisees are profiteers, weak, corrupt, and untrustworthy. One person is all it takes to show the world that something good cannot be built on a foundation of corruption and criminality.
The energy we need to stand up to bullies, to the cruel MAGA agenda, to fearful situations, and to the dark unknowns will come from the courage we have used before now and the courage we must share with each other. We cannot destroy the evil; we can and we must destroy its powers over us.
Today is our National Day of Shame. However, some answers to my question, WHY ARE SOME CULT LEADERS AND MOVEMENT LEADERS SUCCESSFUL WHILE OTHERS ARE NOT, gives me a bit of hope. Men like Trump sit precariously in their powerful positions.
